In 2002 Boddie-Noell bought a 60 percent interest in Caf Carolina and Bakery, founded in 1995 by Robert Autry, Jr., the son of the former Hardee's Food Systems chairman. Boddie Sr. partnered with his brother and uncle in 1962 to open the first restaurant in the Hardees franchise in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
